Digital transformation is a scientific approach to transforming all aspects of the business environment by reviewing business strategy, models, operations, products, marketing approach, goals, etc., through the adoption of digital technologies. Digital transformation should accelerate the development of business in Ukraine.
The transformation stage means that digital tools inherently enable new kinds of innovation in a given domain, rather than simply improving and supporting traditional approaches. For the post-war renewal of Ukraine, the introduction of innovative technologies can become a springboard for economic growth.
Digital transformation is also very important in the military sphere. NATO’s strategic concept for 2022 notes “We will accelerate our digital transformation, adapt NATO’s command structure to the information age, and strengthen our cyber defenses, networks and infrastructure. We will foster innovation and increase our investment in new and revolutionary technologies to maintain our interoperability and military advantage.”
Digital transformation is the main element of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), which is based on nine technological pillars: 1. Autonomous robots. 2. Big data. 3. Augmented reality. 4. Additive manufacturing/3D printing. 5. Cloud technologies. 6. Cyber security. 7. Industrial Internet of Things. 8. Horizontal and vertical integration. 9. Modeling and forecasting/digital doubles.
The core of these technologies are cyber-physical systems and artificial intelligence. These innovations are a bridge between the physical and digital worlds and enable the functioning of intelligent and autonomous robotic systems.
Big data, cloud technologies and cyber security belong to the group of technologies related to the development of infrastructure, and the IT infrastructure itself, which was the result of the third industrial revolution, will now play an important role as an integrator of promising technologies of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation.
These technologies are the main tasks of scientific research of the Department of Complex Research.
Use of scientific research results
The development of an automated management system of the tactical link of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase Ukraine’s defense capability, and the use of domestic solutions for command and staff vehicles and means of communication will save billions of hryvnias from the state budget of Ukraine and eliminate corruption risks in this field.
